Stephen Colbert got Matt Ingebretson and Jake Weisman to be quiet
by Nathan'ette Burdine: March 10, 2019

Stephen Colbert got Matt Ingebretson and Jake Weisman to be quiet for less than a minute after Ingebretson’s comment about wanting the police to see all that he does on his memory foam mattress put The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s (LSSC) audience on mute.

It all begin when Colbert asked Ingebretson and Weisman what work they did for a living before they snagged the gig as the creators of the show Corporate on Comedy Central.

"My problem is I got the business degree and I was like, 'I don’t
know what this is.' I came out to LA and got jobs like copywriting
and doing marketing and stuff and then felt like I was ruining my
life and we based the show on that," said Ingebretson.

"I’m making up everything. I have no idea what I’m talking about
and you’re the first person that’s kind of expose me," Weisman
      said to Colbert.

And what Colbert exposed is that Weisman was a broke chandelier salesman who rarely sold “chandeliers to really rich people who didn’t need the chandeliers.”

"I need a light for my living room," Colbert said

"Oh, so you like light. That’s good. Do you like expensive light?
     Weisman asked Colbert.

"I like nice things. I like nice things," Colbert told Weisman.

"Then you should buy the chandelier," Weisman told Colbert.

Colbert, though, wasn’t that hard on ol’ Weisman there because Colbert knows how hard it is to sell something that not too many people really need.

Y’all know, “something” like futons which Colbert sold when he was fresh out of college back in the 1980s.

Just to prove that futons are just as hard to sell as chandeliers are, Colbert did a mock sell with Ingebretson who played a customer who really likes sleeping and doing other things on his memory foam mattress.

"You don’t want a memory foam mattress because it will inform
the authorities about everything you’ve done on that bed. It’s got
a memory of everything you’ve done," said Colbert.

"See I want the authorities to know about what I’ve done on that
     bed,"  Ingebretson told Colbert.

"Oh really," Colbert said to Ingebretson.

Ingebretson quickly responded with a, "What?!"

Seeing that Ingebretson had just put the #LSSC audience on mute, Colbert decided it’d be a good idea for he, Ingebretson, and Weisman to go on mute along with the audience.

"You guys want to be quiet, for a second?" Colbert asked the
     fellas.

    "Yes," Ingebretson and Weisman responded.

    "Just be quiet," said Colbert.

Ingebretson and Weisman begin looking around, staring at the audience.

Colbert lowered his head and covered his mouth so that no one would see him laughing.

Weisman was holding his own, not cracking a smile one bit. Ingebretson, however, began to break. He closed his eyes and his lips begin that famous upside down movement into a smile; which caused the audience to unmute themselves and laugh as well.
